Filipino Carers Kitchen provides a social time for carers and their loved ones by sharing a cultural recipe, dining together and meeting new friends in a rela xed environment.

The Filipino CARERS Kitchen provides a social time — “KWENTUHAN” (sharing stories), “TAWANAN”, (sharing jokes), at “KAINAN” (eating together) for these ageing carers. If you have these three ingredients it is guaranteed you will make their day! Dont we all want to dine with friends and talk about life? BUT the hard part is, for frail seniors to prepare meals for themselves and others so they can continue their social connections and be hospitable. No Filipino family with a ‘Lolo or Lola” (Grandpa and Grandma) at home would want to prepare breakfast with just ‘ coffee and toast’ or coffee and sandwich for lunch or breakfast. There’s got to be a treat! And that is, preparing their cultural meals they pass on to their children and grandchildren and for others to appreciate.

How did this start?

We piloted a 3-month FCK last year, through ASM seeding grant. In this pilot we have a trained cook with lots of culinary experience and previous owner of a Filipino restaurant in Melbourne, who conducts sessions with carers. Carers choose their recipes and prepares them with the help of a qualified staff, then we have Carers Victoria comes to deliver a talk. We had a good response, so we continued this year and it continues to grow.

Bam! As you can see, the new design for this site has already been implemented!

A handful of new things are coming up on this site this March. But since this website is still in beta, we may have to take it back down on maintenance mode at least once a week so we can properly add more features and improvements throughout the site.

Several pages have been taken down for technical reasons but they will be back up within the next updates.

Stay tuned. We’ll be posting a lot of awesome things from the community in to this website like news articles, new sets of photos, and anything else that we think might help you better get in touch with the CPCA family.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about this website (like what things you want to see, what you want it to do, or if there’s something wrong about something, etc.), please feel free to post them at the comments section right after this article.

Thanks,

Yes, this is the website for the Centre for Philippine Concerns. If you’re wondering about the odd look, we’re just doing something behind the scenes. As the title reads, we’re revamping the website!

We will go on maintenance mode sometime later and will try to get things sorted out on the same day as fast as possible and bring it back up with the new look.

Stay tuned and stay-put. We hope you’ll like the new CPCA website and we hope it will give you a better experience in keeping in-touch with the CPCA community.

Maraming Salamat, Po! (Thank You Very Much!)
